The wave of infection has really hit the United States. About 9,000 new patients are admitted with covid-19 every day. At the same time, according to figures from the National Institute of Public Health CDC 1200 new corona-related deaths are registered daily.
Among the many deaths, there are also a number of stories of fate. One of the last in a row is the story of the parents of four children, Alvaro Fernandez (44) and Sylvia Fernandez (42) from California.
After testing positive for corona in mid-December, they became increasingly ill. A few days later, they were admitted, but the lives of the unvaccinated couple, who also had underlying illnesses, could not be saved.
In just a few hours, both died on December 19.
– Their love story started when they were teenagers at school. Their love grew strong over the years, and eventually also included the wonderful children Emily, Daniel, Destinee and Nicholas. Tragically, their love story came to an abrupt end after 25 years, writes Alvaro’s sister, Alma Hernandez, in connection with the fundraising campaign in support of the bereaved children.

An alarm clock for the family
According to the sister, her now deceased brother wanted to read more about research on the corona vaccine before he took it himself, and tried to read up and seek out information. But almost two years after the start of the pandemic, he still did not feel confident that he knew enough about any side effects.
– He searched for information online and did not believe everything that was reported via the media. What happened has been a wake-up call for everyone in our family, Hernandez says NBC Los Angeles.
The fundraising campaign for the four children left behind has reached NOK 120,000 on Friday night since 21 December.
– Destinee and Nicholas are only 17 years old. We will all feel the loss of Alvaro and Sylvia for a long time, Hernandez writes on the website for the fundraising campaign.
