Israel has ordered around two billion dollars worth of tanker planes (2) and helicopters (12) from US companies Boeing and Lockheed Martin, the Israeli defense ministry said on Friday.
The first helicopters are expected in 2026 and there is an option to purchase six more aircraft. The first plane is not expected before 2025.
The Israeli media believe that these tanker planes are of crucial importance for a possible airstrike on Iranian nuclear facilities. According to the army, the current capacities are sufficient.
