Forward leaves Degerfors for family reasons: “Had counted on him”

Degerfors forward Villiam Dahlström is ready for a transfer to Halmstads BK, the clubs confirm on Thursday. The 24-year-old has signed for three years with HBK, who will play in the Superettan next season after the qualifier loss against Helsingborgs IF. Dahlström will be HBK’s first new acquisition before 2022.

– It feels like I come to an association where you know what you are doing. All conversations with Magnus (Haglund, manager) have been straightforward and good, so I know what is expected of me, says Dahlström on HBK’s website.

Gotlander Dahlström left for the mainland and Degerfors IF for the 2020 season. It ended in success: ten goals and as many assists when Degerfors took the step up in the Allsvenskan. 2021 became heavier for Dahlström, partly due to an injury against Kalmar FF already in the second round, but towards the end of the season he found his way back to the starting eleven.

– We had expected to have Villiam in the squad in 2022, but during a conversation this weekend he told us that for family reasons he wanted to move. We chose to accommodate his wishes, says Degerfors’ sports director Patrik Werner on the association’s website.
