Among them was the “priestess”, a follower of a Swiss religious. They forced children to pray constantly and prevented them from attending school
Five women, belonging to a religious sect, were arrested at the request of the prosecutor of Bolzano on charges of maltreatment of minors: they allegedly prevented their children from attending school, at the same time forcing them to pray continuously. The arrests were made by the carabinieri a Campo Tures, in the Ahrntal valley. The women arrested were part of a Swiss sect called “New Christians” new Christians. The sect refers to a Swiss character, Nikolaus Schneider, who defines himself “Schwert Bischof”, which in German means “Bishop of the sword”.

The arrested women are accused of mistreatment and harassment for forcing the two children of one of them, under 14 years of age, to pray and to undergo other rites, also preventing them from going to school. Three of them are relatives: they are mother, daughter and aunt. They have already been transferred to the women’s section of the Trento prison, where they will be interrogated in the next few days.

The other two women arrested, according to what has been learned, are a “priestess” of the sect and her daughter. There is reserve on the part of the investigators on the investigation that led to the arrests. The investigation would have been triggered by a signal: starting from this the carabinieri were able to ascertain the harassment, not physical but psychological, to which the two children were subjected. In particular, they would have been forced to pray almost continuously, even during the night.

The founder of the sect is said contrary to Darwin’s theory of evolution, enemy of homosexuality, abortion and gender theories. The investigation by the Bolzano prosecutor’s office is settled with a widespread phenomenon in South Tyrol: that of families (mainly German-speaking and living in the valleys) who they withdraw their children from compulsory school. According to the provincial educational institution they are about 600 pupils “disappeared” from teachers’ radars in the last year. Ancestral distrust of the Italian state and its laws seem to be at the basis of this phenomenon.
