ABU DHABI – Ex president Afghanistan , Ashraf Ghani , made another confession regarding his escape from the country after the capital Kabul fell into the hands of Taliban . In his latest confession, he said he was only given no more than two minutes to decide whether to flee or not.

Ghani is understood to have secretly left Kabul on August 15 amid a chaotic US and NATO troop withdrawal, ending the country’s 20-year war.

Ghani revealed that his national security adviser, Hamdullah Mohib, was absolutely terrified and gave the former president two minutes to decide whether to flee.

“He didn’t give me more than two minutes,” Ghani said.

“My instructions are to prepare for departure to [kota] Khost. He told me that Khost had fallen and so had Jalalabad.” BBC, Friday (12/31/2021).

Ghani revealed that he had no inkling that he would leave Afghanistan.

“I didn’t know where we were going. It was only when we took off that it became clear that we were going (leaving Afghanistan). So this was really sudden,” he said.

Ghani also once again stated that he fled to prevent Kabul’s destruction. He claims two Taliban factions are vying for control of the capital and are ready to step in and wage a fierce battle for control.
