Getting to Know the Phenomenon of the Moon-Mars-Antares Conjunction at the End of the Year
Citing the official education.sains.lapan.go.id account, LAPAN recorded 5 astronomical phenomena this week.
One of them is the Moon-Mars-Antares Triple Conjunction. This conjunction occurs at the peak of the end of 2021.
There are areas where Mars and Moon are not occulted. The region will experience triple conjunction with the main star in the constellation Scorpius, namely Antares. To be able to witness this phenomenon, it happened for two days in a row.
Precisely on December 31, 2021 to January 1, 2022. The time is from 04.30 local time (before astronomical dawn). Even until the end of the dawn (25 minutes before sunrise) from the southeast.
The illumination of the moon varies from 11.6 percent−11.2 percent on the first day. Meanwhile, 5.0 percent−4.7 percent on the second day. Mars has a magnitude of +1.52 to +1.50 , in contrast to Antares, which has a magnitude of +1.05.

Another Phenomenon of the Week
Not only the Moon-Mars-Antares conjunction phenomenon will occur in 2021. Here are some other astronomical phenomena in the last week of December 2021.
Late New Moon Phase (December 27, 2021)
This phase is one of the phases of the Moon when its configuration is between the Sun, Earth and Moon. So that it forms a right angle (90°) and occurs after the full moon phase.
The peak of this final neighbour’s phase occurred at 09.23.48 WIT/10.23.48 WITA/11.23.48 WIT.
Mars-Antares Conjunction (27-28 December 2021)
Mars which has another name as Ares in Roman mythology. In conjunction with Antares, the main star in the constellation Scorpius.
Precisely on December 27, 2021 at 16.15 WIB / 17.15 WIB / 18.15 WIB with a separation angle of 4.4 °.
Mercury-Venus Conjunction (December 29, 2021)
Mercury is also in conjunction with Venus. Precisely on December 29, 2021 at 17.34 WITA / 18.34 WITA / 19.34 WIT with a separation angle of 4.2 °.
To witness this phenomenon since the early twilight (25 minutes after sunset). The time lasts for one hour from the southwest.

Occultation of Mars by Moon (31 December 2021)
The occultation of Mars by the Moon is an astronomical phenomenon when Mars passes behind the Moon. So that it looks covered by the Moon. This can happen because Mars is farther from Earth than the Moon is from Earth.
Globally, the Occultation of Mars by the Moon will occur on December 31, 2021. This phenomenon lasts for 3 hours from 18:23 to 21:23 Universal Time.
This time the occultation of Mars by the Moon will be the last occultation in 2021. A similar phenomenon will occur on June 22, July 22, and December 18, 2022.
The occurrence of the conjunction phenomenon of the Moon-Mars-Antares right at the end of the year. This phenomenon is one of 5 astronomical phenomena recorded by LAPAN this week. (R10/HR-Online)
