Up to a thousand percent increase in antibodies after having been vaccinated with doses of the vaccine against Covid-19, and having been infected. It is what indicates a new study, which is known as superimmunity.
The study analyzed the blood of 26 people who had the infections after being vaccinated; it was discovered that after the double vaccine they developed antibodies up to 1,000 percent more effective and abundant.
If the investigation is successful, what they have seen so far is that any exposure to the virus after vaccination serves to strengthen the immune response, even in the face of new variants such as Ómicron, or those that have to arrive.
It won’t be the end of the pandemic
“It does not mean that we are near the end of the pandemic, but it does indicate where we are likely to land: when someone is vaccinated and then exposed to the virus, perhaps you will be reasonably well protected from future variants“Says Professor Marcel Curlin of the Oregon School of Medicine.
Lead researcher Fikadu Tafesse, assistant professor of molecular microbiology and immunology at the Oregon School of Medicine, concludes that “The results of this study showed a substantial increase in humoral immunity after a breakthrough infection, despite predominantly mild disease”.
Immunity against new variants
“The increase was most notable for IgA, possibly due to differences in the route of exposure between vaccination and natural infection. In addition, the innovative sera demonstrated a better cross-neutralization of variants, which suggests that the protective immune response can be amplified by the development of variant boosters with antigenic inserts that match the emerging SARS-CoV-2 variants. “
