Covid-19: Israel Receives First Delivery Of Pfizer Treatment Pills

The plane carrying the first delivery of drugs from the American laboratory Pfizer landed this Thursday afternoon at Ben-Gurion airport, after negotiations led by Prime Minister Naftali Bennett.

“The drug from Pfizer that arrived in Israel today, among the first countries in the world, is an important addition to the toolbox to fight the coronavirus,” Bennett said.

“As we were world pioneers in the administration of the third and fourth vaccine, we are now also a leader in the administration of the drug to the citizens of Israel,” said the Israeli prime minister.

Naftali Bennett thanked “his friend” Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla, Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz, and the El Al company that transported the cargo.

“We are working in an orderly and rigorous manner and with a combined effort of tests, vaccinations and now also drugs, together we will overcome the Omicron variant,” he concluded.

The drug is reportedly costing the country around $ 530 (€ 467) per patient, but it is not yet clear what the price will be for Israeli patients.
