About twenty Afghan citizens between 20 and 40 years old have been located this Wednesday when they tried to enter Spain hidden in a sea container from Turkey that a truck driver loaded this afternoon in the Port of Tarragona.
Police sources have reported that the truck driver has loaded the container into his vehicle and, when he was traveling on the C-14, near Alcover (Tarragona), he has heard screams and blows from the load.
The trucker has alerted the Mossos d’Esquadra, and several patrols of this body have escorted the truck to a fire station to open the container safely.
In doing so, they have found about twenty Afghan citizens between the ages of 20 and 40, apparently in good health, inside.
All of them have been treated by the health services in the same fire station and, after a first assistance, they have been transferred by ambulance to the municipal pavilion of the town to undergo another medical examination.
The container came from Turkey although, according to the first information, the group of Afghans did not hide in that country, but on some later scale.
The National Police, competent in Immigration, has taken charge of the case.
