While three medical evacuations, including two to Brittany, took place from the Bastia hospital center, the latter must face this new and strong wave in the headwinds.
Indeed, while the conventional COVID hospitalization service is for the moment rather calm, the COVID resuscitation continues to be just in time, and remains 100% full despite medical evacuations.
An epidemic that is disrupting the hospital, which has to face the count made this Wednesday evening, fifty positive hospital workers and therefore unable to be at their post. The hospital must therefore juggle its staff, some having given up their long-term leave to help cope. Patients have seen their elective surgical procedures postponed indefinitely, faced with the inability to open more than one operating room, reserved for urgent procedures or linked to significant loss of opportunity.
We listen to Jean-Mathieu Defour, director of the Bastia hospital.
