The Lego statue of André Hazes that was placed on Dam Square in Amsterdam last summer has disappeared. It was probably taken by someone without permission during the night from Monday to Tuesday.
At the place where the statue stood, there was a note with the text: “Corona threw a spanner in the works. André now has time for another performance.”
Catering entrepreneur Won Yip, who together with Rachel Hazes ensured that the image was created, thinks it is a playful action. “I have faith in people. So hereby: give him a can of beer every fifteen minutes, I would start with that. And then I assume that the statue will be placed back after New Years,” he tells AT5.

“Probably it was someone who has good intentions and does not want the statue to be damaged during New Year’s Eve. If it is not playful, I think it is brutal. Rachel and I bought this for the people of Amsterdam, to give the city a little And then it would be sad if someone had the audacity to appropriate that image,” says Won Yip.
In any case, the municipality has not removed the image. The artist, Streetart Frankey, has no idea where it has gone either.
