The establishment is almost full, but two days before New Years Eve, the director of the Odysseo cabaret on the shores of Lake Kir oscillates between happiness and stress. “We are in a good state of mind because we are there to sell dreams and allow people to end the year having fun”, explains Christophe Gonnet, “But we are also under pressure and tension because we see it in colleagues who have problems with artists affected by Covid-19 and we are afraid of that too.”
Vigilance and instructions to artists
Unlike last year, the establishment is open on the evening of January 31, and will offer a festive meal-show, “even if we can’t dance”, specifies the CEO of Odysséo. And if most groups have canceled their reservationss, “these are the individuals who saved this evening by reserving their places”, continues Christophe Gonnet. Of the 221 places in the cabaret, 193 are reserved, which gives the manager a smile even if the stress is never far away, “I give instructions to the artists, I ask them to stay as little as possible in contact with people outside, we must remain vigilant.”
Optimism for 2022
Christophe Gonnet expects a complicated start to 2022, “January and February will not be good months because the groups will not take any risks and have already canceled, but we hope that things will start again and that everything will be back to normal.” The director of Odysséo remains optimistic, “We will end up finding solutions, we have always been able to adapt and customers will come back, they want it.”
