The number of new corona cases in the Netherlands will continue to fall for the time being. But the decline is slowing down. The number of hospital admissions and deaths is also falling more slowly than in the previous weeks. The RIVM does expect the figures to rise again due to the dominance of the omikron variant among the current corona infections.

The National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) was notified of 84,398 positive results from corona tests in the past seven days. That is 11 percent less than the week before. In the weeks before that, the number of new cases fell by 18.6 and 21.3 percent respectively. So the decline is getting a little slower.
Rise in Amsterdam
Although the infection figures in the Netherlands decreased, the figures in Amsterdam increased. According to the GGD, the rising number of corona infections in the Amsterdam-Amstelland region may be related to a regional action last week. The municipalities of Amsterdam, Diemen, Uithoorn, Amstelveen and Ouder-Amstel handed out a total of 700,000 self-tests.
