After months of speculation and more and less guaranteed leaks, we have finally seen it. Xiaomi has introduced a new generation of its flagship series, this time with serial number 12. Its first representatives are the Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro and Xiaomi 12x smartphones. In particular, the first two smartphones then the equipment and only a minimum of compromises. So what will the news offer?
The official specifications of the Xiaomi 12 are in the world
Basic Xiaomi 12 could please fans more compact smartphones. With diagonal display 6,28″ it cannot be said that it is a purely small smartphone. On the other hand, it is by far the smallest TOP model from Xiaomi in a few years. Its specific dimensions make up 152,7 x 69,9 x 8,2 mm and the weight stopped to pleasant 180 grams. All innovations will then offer increased durability with certification IP68.
The display is understandable AMOLED and offers FullHD + distinction, 120Hz refresh rate and 12bit color display support. Of course, HDR10 + or Dolby Vision certification can’t be missing either, and the cover glass takes care of the display protection Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. They were not left out either stereo speakers, on which Xiaomi again collaborated with harman / kardon. The performance here, of course, is provided by the chipset Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 gen 1 and seconds it to 8 to 12 GB of RAM. The internal storage can then have a capacity of 128 to 256 GB.
The primary camera has 50MPx Sony IMX766 sensor. There is also optical stabilization and the lens has an aperture of f / 1.9. The other two cameras are a minor concession. This is because 13MPx ultra wide angle camera with 123 ° view and 5MPx tele-macro camera, which Xiaomi has been using since its last generation of its flagship model. Inside the Xiaomi 12 is hiding a battery with a capacity of 4,500 mAh supporting 67W fast charging and 50W wireless fast charging. Xiaomi 12 Pro brings a better display and cameras
At first glance, the identical twin in the form of the Xiaomi 12 Pro smartphone not only brings a similar design, but also equipment. The performance will therefore offer identical to its smaller sibling. However, there have been many more changes in the display area than just another diagonal – here 6,73″. Again, this is an AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. This time, however, it is LTPO display with a variable refresh rate from 1 to just 120 Hz, which should help save some percentage of the battery. Furthermore, the screen resolution increased to 2k and the maximum brightness to 1500 rivets of 1100 threads at the basic Xiaomi 12. Like both siblings, the Xiaomi 12 Pro hides an optical fingerprint reader.
Probably the biggest difference for us, however, is the photographic equipment of the most equipped of today’s smartphones. First of all, we have a brand new one here 50MPx sensor Sony IMX707 about size 1 / 1.28 ″ – for comparison IMX766 in Xiaomi 12 has size 1 / 1.56 ″. Optical stabilization is not missing here either. Next in line is 50MPx, but this time portrait camera with double optical zoom. Then he comes to the third of all good 50MPx ultra wide angle camera. The night mode has also been improved, and Xiaomi also introduces its own technology called CyberFocus, which is used to focus and track objects or faces.
The last major change from the Xiaomi 12 is support up to 120W fast charging. The power of wireless charging is then maintained at 50 W and reverse charging is also present. The battery is divided into two cells and has a capacity 4 600 mAh.
Xiaomi 12X as a not entirely expected surprise
Xiaomi then added an even smaller surprise in the form of Xiaomi 12X to the pair of highly anticipated smartphones. This largely replicates the equipment of the basic Xiaomi 12, but this time uses “only” the chipset Qualcomm Snapdragon 870. At the same time, this model also lost wireless charging.

Along with the introduction of the novelties, we of course also saw the unveiling of their prices. So far only for the Chinese market. At the same time it is not even certain when and whether we will see the complete Xiaomi 12 trio in our country as well on the old continent. All novelties should then offer a blue, black and pink color variant. Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro still offer a green version with a faux leather back. All phones will then arrive on the market with pre-installed Android 12 and MIUI 13.
