Last Monday night, at approximately 10:00 p.m., two men were attacked with bullets in the municipality of Cajeme. They are Pastor Iván Carrillo Ochoa, 40, and lawyer Masami Alejandro Nikaido Rivera, 32.

It is presumed that Carrillo Ochoa was a journalist for the digital portal Cajeme News; however, the media denied a working relationship with him, as it assured that he only gave him a badge “out of courtesy.”
The State Attorney General’s Office (FGJE) confirmed the facts and reported that the investigations were initiated to find those responsible; As part of the investigations, Nikaido Rivera’s career as a lawyer is also taken into account to clarify whether they were determining factors in the homicide.
The attack on both men occurred on the night of this Monday, December 27, at an address located in the Centro neighborhood of Ciudad Obregón, when they were having a conversation with each other outside a home.
Neighbors after being alerted to this violent event, notified 911 and elements of the Municipal Police and Red Cross came to provide first aid, but the paramedics confirmed at the site that they no longer showed vital signs.
When the authorities arrived at the scene, they found that the bodies had impacts from a long weapon, as well as a vehicle belonging to Masami Alejandro, a 2021 Jeep truck.
So far it is known that together with the Municipal Preventive Police of Public Security, elements of the Ministerial Criminal Investigation Agency (AMIC) and experts from the Prosecutor’s Office arrived to process the evidence at the scene, including shot casings allegedly used in the attack.
Likewise, between December 2018 and October 2021, the Secretariat for Human Rights, Population and Migration revealed in its third report that there have been 49 homicides of journalists.
The document indicates six entities that account for 60% of the murders, 29 of which seven were incorporated into the Protection Mechanism and two human rights defenders, while Sonora appears in first place with eight cases.

Adding to the date the attack against Pastor Iván, the figure reached 9 in the State, with five in Cajeme and Hermosillo, San Luis Río Colorado, Sonoyta and Guaymas with one each.
Cajeme News assures that he was not his reporter
According to the FGJE, the owner of the Cajeme News portal clarified that Pastor Iván N. was not a reporter or employee of this communication medium.
They point out that he only had a badge as a courtesy, but he did not do journalistic work for this digital company.
