This morning’s attack sparked a massive explosion and fire at the container terminal. Syrian state media, TO YOU, reported the attack caused massive material damage.
This morning’s aggression was recorded as a rare strike as it targeted the port that handles most of the imports for Syria, which has been ravaged by a decade-long civil war and sanctions imposed by the West.

TO YOU citing a Syrian military official as saying that Israeli missiles fired from west of Latakia hit the port’s container terminal, setting off a fire that caused massive damage.
The unnamed official said firefighters had been battling the blaze for nearly an hour after the attack.
television station Al-Ikhbariyah Syrian government-owned footage showed flames and smoke rising from the container terminal. The television reported damage to residential buildings, hospitals, shops and several tourist sites near the port.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or fatalities from the missile attack. according to TO YOU, the Syrian military activated the air defense system.
A similar attack was reported last December 7, when Israeli warplanes targeted a container terminal at the port, causing a fire and explosion.
