Press release from December 28th, 2021
The alternatives to the again failed Christmas bazaar helped the Creativkreis (bazaar circle) of the Protestant parish of Betzdorf a lot. Sales during market days in an empty shop in the city center from early to mid-December, a market stall and donations filled the till with a good 5,700 euros over the course of the year.
Betzdorf. The income and donations of around 5,700 euros even exceeded the previous year’s result. The 16 women of the creative circle can support a whole range of recipients by selling numerous self-made articles.
These include the organization “Open Doors” (which works for persecuted Christians), ophthalmologist Dr. Schnell from Waldbröl (who carries out free eye operations in developing countries), the Christoffel-Blindenmission, the winter aid of the Berlin city mission and the Kindernothilfe for the African sponsored child. The Protestant day-care centers in Betzdorf and the youth work of the YMCA Betzdorf are also considered. For the first time there is also a donation for flood victims in the Ahr valley. (PM)
