iCulture’s favorite products of 2021: the MacBook Pro

In this last week of the year, we at iCulture take one last look back at the past year. In doing so, we want the 2021 Apple Products don’t just let it pass. We therefore highlight our three favorite Appleproducts from 2021 out. Why is this product one of our favorites and how can Apple make it even better in the future? Our first favorite Apple product of this year is the MacBook Pro 2021, especially the 14-inch version.

Our 2021 favorites: the 14-inch MacBook Pro

In recent years, Apple’s focus on the Mac a little dazed. In particular, the MacBook Proseries came in for a lot of criticism after the road Apple turned down in 2016. The keyboard was bad, the lack of ports created a dongle jungle and the Touch Bar turned out not to be as popular as Apple hoped. Apple rarely reverses drastic decisions from the past, but with the MacBook Pro 2021 Apple is back on track. This is the professional one MacBook as users like to see it.

What’s so good?

The first thing we’re excited about is the design of the latest MacBook Pro. Although they seem thicker than previous generations, we find the new blocky style quite charming. Although the MacBook Pro is not as angular and straight as, say, the current one iPhones in iPads, it fits better into the entire lineup of recent Apple products. The new shape of the MacBook Pro really gives you the impression that you have a sturdy machine in your hand.

Apart from the design, we are also impressed by the specifications and the screen. Apple is still in the middle of transitioning from Intel chips to its own Apple Siliconchips and with the M1 Pro and M1 Max chips, Apple shows what it is capable of. The display is also impressive. It mini-LED screen is of a much higher quality than its predecessors and the thinner edges make it a whole with the design. In our opinion, the 14-inch model is the perfect middle ground for portability and enough screen space to work on. I’ve been using a 15-inch MacBook Pro for years, because I thought the 13-inch was just too small. The 14-inch format is therefore the perfect size for me.

Why is this our 2021 favorite?

Apple has clearly listened to the users with this MacBook Pro. Finally, the target group was again central, instead of how Apple sees the MacBook Pro. Apple has finally reversed criticized decisions, although they will never show it that way themselves. The MacBook Pro 2021 is finally back for the professional user, after Apple spent years trying to make something that nobody really asked for.

What could be better?

Despite the many positive qualities, the 2021 MacBook Pro not perfect yet. For example, the display is not yet of a 4K resolution and the notch (the notch at the top of the screen) is a bit too large. Face ID would have been a nice addition, especially because the size of the notch actually contains only a few sensors. Apple can also improve in some other areas, such as the specifications of the ports (HDMI 2.1 for example, instead of 2.0). What we also found a pity is that the camera does not support Center Stage. That would have been welcome in an era of video calling.
