Just in time for the half-time whistle in the top leagues in Europe, the experts from the football observatory CIES scrolled through the statistics and put together a top 11 for each of the major football leagues. Today: Germany.
When putting together the team, the International Center for Sports Studies (CIES) is guided by CIES Performance Index from Opta. In short: beautiful goals do not count – only those who are statistically triumphant make it into the top 11.
As expected, there is no getting past FC Bayern Munich in the first half of the 2021/22 season. The series champion puts seven of the eleven players in the top 11.
Perhaps a bit surprising: Leroy Sané also made it into the team. A certain Erling Haaland is not there.
