They fled Kabul with the last flight to Norway. Now they have a new home in little Vestnes.

VESTNES (Aftenposten): They had hoped for Oslo. But far out by the sea on the Romsdal coast, the Afghan family got their new home. Most of the evacuees have now been given residence in a Norwegian municipality.

Fjords and snow-capped mountains characterize the Afghan family Sakha’s new home. Seema and her husband Dilawar with their three children Shir Mohammad (left), Shahzad (right) and Julia.

They came to Vestnes in the evening. It was dark. They lay down to sleep in the apartment above the bank in the center of the small town.

Seema Sakha (45) and his family had been evacuated during the dramatic August days in Kabul after the Taliban took control.
