For 4 years, this Dijon hotel (Côte-d’Or) has embarked on the escape game adventure by opening rooms dedicated to visitors. In one of them, you become a hero of 20,000 leagues across the seas.
Families love it. Since the opening of the first room in Paris in 2013, nearly 2,300 escape games have been created in France. These puzzle games, organized in a room that you usually have to get out of, are popping up everywhere. Including in Bourgogne-France-Comté where there are 70 establishments, or one for 40,000 inhabitants.
A Dijon hotel embarked on the adventure 4 years ago. From the Côte-d’Or, then dive 20,000 leagues under the sea. Your mission: free the Nautilius, Jules Verne’s famous submarine, from the tentacles of a monster. A good idea for a family outing during the holiday season.
The Noirots have decided to showcase their sagacity and their talents as investigators within the escape game. Locked in a room, Catherine and her daughter Marie decipher. Jean-Denis, the father, and Thomas, them, rummage in search of clues. Riddles, decoding, or puzzles, everyone is racking their brains …
In a cabin next door, Nicolas slips into the shoes of Captain Nemo, the character of the novel and directs the game. The game master observes and assists the players with his microphone. In total, participants have one hour maximum to solve this escape game with a sometimes malicious captain …
“Captain Nemo that I play assists them but also titillates them. Personally, I like playing an extremely teasing, mocking Captain Nemo. It makes them laugh a lot in general,” explains the game master.
The Noirot family gets away with honors with an enigma solved in 45 minutes. Above all, the family had a great time. “It was good. I thought it was almost too short! I was disappointed that it was already stopping”, says Catherine. “We felt like we weren’t doing well at first and then eventually it seemed like we managed to save the captain!”, his daughter, Marie, is almost surprised.
The four members of the tribe are among the 500 players who came to demonstrate their sense of deduction through the various escape game rooms in the hotel. To play, it costs between 19 and 35 euros per person.
“What is really important for us beyond profitability is to allow people to have a good time. This is really what we are looking for, especially in these times that have been running for two years. are with us for an hour and a half and we want them to have the best time possible “, details Raphaël Favelier, deputy manager of the hotel.
Four immersive rooms are available within the establishment, each with its own atmosphere. Spirit 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, World War II, XIXth century or Middle Ages, the choice is yours! A fifth room will open in mid-January.
