Information: Sousa leaves Poland – the union demands millions for breach of contract

Poland missed a direct place in the World Cup and, like Sweden, is facing a playoff in March. But unlike Blågult, Poland missed seeding, due to the result in the last match. Federal captain Paulo Sousa was said to have miscalculated and believed that the seeding was secured. He therefore benched stars like Robert Lewandowski, and they fell against Hungary, making them unseeded.

The mistake caused a great deal of consternation against Sousa, and several people in the union demanded that he leave the post. But the Portuguese has not yet been fired and he instead seems to be leaving voluntarily.

According to Polish Sport, which refers to the Brazilian journalist Vagner Martins, Sousa has agreed with Internacional Porto Alegre to take over the coaching position in the team. They state that he will sign the contract on Sunday and are said to earn just over one million kronor a month on the new job.

This news does not seem to have landed well with the Polish federation. They write in a statement that this is a breach of contract, as Sousa is said to have agreed to the job without informing the president.

“If the Portuguese, behind the back of the president, has decided to take a job at Internacional (or any other club), the association will react strongly and report the matter to Fifa and demand several million zlotys for violating the contract and for exposing the association. for additional costs due to the need to hire a new coach “, they write.

Later on Sunday, Sky Sport Italia journalist and transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzo reported that Paulo Sousa is close to taking over as coach of the Brazilian club Flamengo.

Several people associated with the Polish national team have commented on the incident on Sunday.

– I am disappointed with Paulo Sousa’s actions. We worked together for several months, and quite closely. It seemed that there was a trust between us. Now I feel cheated, says the Polish national team’s spokesperson Jakub Kwiatkowski according to Sport.

Cesary Kulesza, president of the Polish Football Association, confirms on her Twitter account that Sousa mutually wanted to break the contract – but that the national team captain’s wish was rejected after the coach departed from what he had previously said.

Poland thus risks being without the national team captain, three months before the decisive playoffs. There, they will face Russia in the semifinals, away, before the winner will face Sweden or the Czech Republic in the final.
