In a zoo in France, nine wolves got out of the enclosures, some of the animals were shot

“Last weekend, nine European gray wolves, who had just arrived at the zoo, emerged from their nocturnal enclosure after the security hatches were destroyed, where they had been locked for observation,” the report said.

According to the Zoo des 3 Vallées, the animals moved in a set of enclosures designed specifically to accommodate packs of wolves.

“Faced with the abnormal and dangerous behavior of some of them, we applied a very strict security protocol in place in the institution. Unfortunately, four wolves had to be shot by the staff of the park,” the zoo explained.

The institution stressed that “these animals have never contacted and did not pose a threat to visitors or park officials.”

Precautions such as “immediate evacuation” have also been reported.

The Zoo des 3 Vallées website now states that “due to urgent work, the zoo is closed from 23 December to mid-January 2022”.
