It is not that far yet. It could be quite cold tonight. Locally, it can be slippery tonight and tonight in the provinces of Noord-Holland, Flevoland and Gelderland due to sleet. “If there is precipitation, people have to be alert. The chance of rain is not very great,” says Huizinga.
That minimal precipitation will move north during the night. According to Huizinga, it does mean that it can be very slippery in the morning in Friesland, Groningen and Drenthe when it freezes. The KNMI has issued a code yellow for provinces where it can become so slippery.

Tomorrow it will be gray but mostly dry in the country. It can already be 7 to 9 degrees in the south, while in the north it is only just above freezing. Tuesday will be a wet and mild day with a lot of wind. Then as far as the temperature is concerned, the double digits are probably tapped.
Exceptionally warm
“The days after it is gray and windy and every day a degree is added,” says Huizinga. On New Year’s Eve, he sees it certainly going to be 13 or 14 degrees, with perhaps a peak of up to 15 degrees. The average temperature around this time of year is 6 degrees, so it is exceptionally warm.
In the evening the temperature remains above zero. And Huizinga sees that old and new could well run dry. “But it’s far from Friday, so that could change.”
