Investigators of the Kharkiv region have begun a pre-trial investigation of animal cruelty against a minor girl. This is stated in the message of the National Police on December 26.
A Kharkiv woman turned to the police and pointed to a video on the Internet where a girl kicks a cat. Law enforcers found out the identity of the offender, she turned out to be a 15-year-old student of one of the schools of the Chuguevsky district of the Kharkov region.
In November, while walking with a friend, the girl noticed the animal and began to mock him. Another girl filmed the bullying with her mobile phone.
“The teenager could not explain her actions and noted that she regretted what she had done. The animal is alive, the cat ran away from the schoolgirl,” the message says.
The police opened criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Art. 299 (cruelty to animals) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of five to eight years. Investigative actions continue, the police said.
