Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Singapore has again recorded hundreds of new cases of the omicron variant of Covid-19. The Ministry of Health (MOH) said there were 448 new cases consisting of 369 imported and 79 local cases, Saturday (12/25/2021).
MOH also announced that it had detected a new omicron cluster associated with a bar on River Valley Road.
The main case in the cluster is a traveler who arrived in Singapore on 14 December from the United States (US) via the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) scheme. Case 280860 tested negative on arrival and later tested positive on 18 December.
The traveler met a colleague, identified as case 281477, on December 15. Following the meeting, the team then visited The Vinyl Bar at 266 River Valley Road on December 17th.
“Case 281477 likely transmitted the virus to a staff member at the bar, identified as Case 281876, as well as three customers who were at the bar that night, known as Cases 282091, 282143 and 282178,” the MOH epidemiological investigation said. CNAs).
“Case 282091 subsequently infected four members of the household,” he added.
A total of 10 cases associated with the cluster were fully vaccinated and had only mild or no symptoms.
“Staff and visitors to The Vinyl Bar who are known to have close contact with the case will be quarantined,” MOH said. “As a precautionary measure, other staff and bar patrons at the same time as Case 281477 on December 17 will be contacted by MOH for a one-time targeted PCR test.”
All bar patrons are advised to closely monitor their health and minimize social interactions as far as possible for 14 days from the date of their visit. They are also advised to immediately consult a doctor if they feel unwell.
Meanwhile the associated bar has been closed for deep cleaning, disinfection and sanitization. All staff will also undergo periodic PCR testing.
Singapore is now a country with many cases of omicron. Indonesia’s neighboring country previously confirmed its first two imported omicron cases on December 6. On December 14, he reported the first two confirmed cases of local omicron. Both are members of the passenger service staff at Changi Airport.
Singapore has also frozen all new ticket sales for VTL flights and buses until 20 January 2022. VTL quota and ticket sales for travel will also be temporarily reduced after 20 January 2022.
Singapore has a VTL with more than 20 countries and territories, including Australia, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, South Korea, Thailand, UK and US.
