November 25th is International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. All over the world, cities shine under the motto “Orange Your City” for this occasion. Leipzig is taking part for the second time.
“Experiences of violence by women are now brought to light more frequently and are in the public eye. The ‘Orange your City’ campaign is intended to shake us up,” said Mayor Thomas Fabian (65, SPD). “She calls for more to be done to prevent violence against women and girls.”
The initiators are women from Zonta Leipzig Elster, Zonta Leipzig, and Soroptimist Leipzig.

As the city announced, a total of 24 institutions are taking part – from 5 p.m., among other things, the “Westin” hotel, the Sankt Georg clinic, the Moritzbastei, the New Town Hall, the Leipzig theater and the “Breuninger” department store (it should also be there give an information booth) bathed in orange light.
