WNBA: Becky Hammon courted by New York Liberty and Las Vegas Aces | NBA

Becky Hammon dreams of being the first female “head coach” in the NBA but this glass ceiling seems difficult to break for the moment, and Gregg Popovich’s assistant could therefore finally turn to the WNBA.

According to ESPN and The Athletic, the New York Liberty and the Las Vegas Aces are thus interested in its services.

And the former legend of the women’s league, six times All-Star in the WNBA (2003, 2005-2007, 2009, 2011), would also be interested in the two positions, within two franchises that she knows very well. Good.

Becky Hammon thus began her professional career at New York Liberty, from 1999 to 2006, but she had especially shone in the WNBA with the San Antonio Stars, between 2007 and 2014. A franchise which was then sold to MGM Resorts International in 2017, becoming the Las Vegas Aces in the process, by settling in Nevada.

For now, the New York Liberty has no manager since the departure of Walt Hopkins while Bill Laimbeer leads the Las Vegas Aces, but he could become manager if Becky Hammon arrives.

The latter has been an assistant to Gregg Popovich since 2014, following his retirement from the WNBA prosecution.
