No IC bed available, so surgeon goes to patient for life-saving surgery: ‘Hero’
Alewijn (62) was in a coma on the ICU and had to be operated on quickly in order to live. But the hospital where that had to happen was packed with corona patients. There was not a single bed left for him. Rotterdam trauma surgeon Jefrey Vermeulen came up with a ruse: “Then I’ll take my briefcase and surgery stuff to him.”
