Now on display: first part of documentary about Efteling attraction Fata Morgana

Curious how the Efteling attraction Fata Morgana was made at the time? In recent years, a fan site has worked hard on an extensive documentary about the creation of the famous dark ride from 1986. As of today, the first part can be seen on YouTube.

The Five Senses interviewed many Efteling veterans about the construction of the oriental palace. In the 55-minute video, well-known Efteling faces such as Lex Lemmens, Ton van de Ven, Mari van Heumen and Peter Koppelmans have their say.

The first part deals with, among other things, the preliminary phase, the design, a trip to Morocco, the manufacture of the sets and the creation of the advanced animatronics. The documentary makers also got access to a lot of never-before-seen material.

The premiere took place in early October in a cultural center in Drunen. Now everyone can watch the first part of the movie for free. The video published today lasts over 55 minutes. Part two will be released in a week, on Saturday, January 1, 2022.
