Selular.ID – Apple introduced support for eSIMs on its smartphones namely the iPhone XS and XS Max series, allowing users to have a second network support on the device via a digital SIM along with a regular physical SIM.
Now, a recent report coming from a Brazilian site, reveals that Apple is planning to get rid of the physical SIM card slot from the iPhone lineup in the coming years.
As per reports, the Apple iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models launched in 2023 may not have a physical SIM card slot. Instead, the device will only have support for eSIM cards for connectivity. It is also said that there will be support for two eSIM cards, ensuring dual SIM functionality.
It’s still very early to get confirmed information about Apple iPhone 15 series models launching in 2023. However, if the rumors that have just been circulating are true, there is still much hope that Apple will keep making iPhone models with a physical SIM card slot for the region. does not provide eSIM function.
Prior to this, there were rumors about Apple’s plans to remove the Lightning port from smartphones and if the company also removed the physical SIM card slot, then it would be a step further for a seamless design as well as improved water resistance.
At the moment, it all seems like speculation and there is no concrete evidence to support this claim. However, Apple has a track record of making some bold decisions so there’s a good chance this information could be true.
