Leonardo Carol Madelón will be the new coach of Arsenal, from Sarandí, as of January 1, with a one-year contract, according to sources from the Viaducto club this afternoon.
The coach born in the Santa Fe town of Cafferata will turn 59 on January 25 and comes from directing Platense.
Madelón’s extensive coaching career began in 1997 in Colegiales, then moved on to El Porvenir and from there to Unión, in Santa Fe, one of the clubs in which he played as a footballer.

Nueva Chicago, Olimpo de Bahía Blanca, Talleres de Córdoba, Rosario Central in two different cycles with Gimnasia and Esgrima La Plata in the middle, and then Quilmes, were the steps that he had to climb until he reached the place he dreamed of as a technician and in the who had achieved the most notoriety as a footballer: San Lorenzo.
Two new steps through Unión with an interregnum in Belgrano de Córdoba preceded his last work in Platense. Now it was his turn for Arsenal, the 16th squad in his quarter-century coaching career.
