Corona threatens not only yourself but everyone around you. You also observe the precautions for them. Concern is not superfluous. This is once again clear from a tragic story from Belgium where 2-year-old Amaury has been in a coma for three days in the province of Liège after being infected with the corona virus. The boy is extra vulnerable because he suffers from the very rare CACNA1E syndrome. His grandfather and his brother are now also in intensive care. Other families have also become infected in the municipality of Plombières, which borders Dutch Limburg.
Amaury contracted corona through his grandfather. He felt ill two weeks ago, but the doctor consulted concluded that he did not have corona. The mother of the affected child tells at HLN what drama unfolded next:
“The problems started when he accidentally locked himself out of his own home. He then came to me, but Amaury and I were not at home. I’m normally always very careful about who I let in. Especially sick people are not welcome. When I saw him, I immediately quarantined him in a room. The self-test he performed afterwards turned out to be positive. However, unlike me and my son, he was doubly vaccinated. I kind of blame my father for behaving so irresponsibly. For example, he could have worn at least a mouth mask in my home.”

There was no direct contact between the grandfather and his grandson, but the child still became infected. Amaury, who was born when the pandemic broke out, developed a severe fever. He was taken to hospital where he was placed in a coma to prevent his condition from worsening.
