The house in rue de la Madeleine declines its creations around monuments or ancient pieces.
Upstairs resonates with the sound of the jeweler’s tools. Stéphane Lachize applies himself to new creations. On the ground floor, his brother Lionel welcomes clients or works on new designs. Thus the roles are distributed at Lachize, a family house created by their father Jean-Claude here, rue de la Madeleine, in 1982. Before that, arriving in Nîmes in 1969, the craftsman worked in a “room workshop”: he worked for other jewelers in the city in the discretion of a floor of the Place des Esclafidous.
If jewelry and stonework have remained the main activity of the brand, the two brothers have created a specialty, “a capsule, they say, there are now fifteen years: restoring Romanity in jewelry.
“Struck” creations
Their flagship products: rings, pendants or bracelets (49 € in silver version; 350 € for pink or gray gold) imagined around the famous Ace of Nîmes, the currency minted in the Roman colony around 27 BC. and which bears, on one of its faces, the crocodile and palm symbol united. Made of a copper alloy, the original piece cannot be worked without breaking. The jewelers have therefore imagined a reproduction, in reduced size, to decline their full range of jewelry.

But in recent months, it is also with authentic antique coins, bearing the effigy of Antoninus Pius, the emperor with Nîmes roots, that Lachize has been making pendants and necklaces. “We buy them at the Auction House or from private collectors, says Lionel. It’s a small environment: today, we have created a network among numismatists and we are always on standby.” The price of the creations, after gold or silver setting, varies from 300 to 350 €.

After a ring which represents the arenas of Nîmes, the brothers are also currently working on a model of bracelet which evokes the amphitheater: it will be ready soon. Another, symbolizing the Pont du Gard (in silver, 750 €), has already been released a few months ago.
