At the time of the interview, Jakob Pöltl had been sitting in a hotel room in Sacramento for hours. Corona is of course still rife in the US state of California. “It’s not that exciting,” says Pöltl about the STANDARD, “I haven’t left my room yet, let’s see if I can get out at all. We have to be careful.” The 26-year-old Viennese apart from the pandemic has enough reason to be happy: his achievements in what is now his sixth season in the National Basketball Association (NBA) are more than remarkable and are also causing a sensation in America.
