Crypto Is “Very Dangerous,” Says Donald Trump » Crypto Insiders

Donald Trump is still not a fan of cryptocurrencies as bitcoin (BTC). That says the former president of the United States in an interview with Fox News on Dec 22.

Melania NFT

Despite this, he was positive about the recent launch of the non-fungible token (NFT) platform and collection of Melania Trump, former first lady. Melania launched ‘Melania’s Vision,’ last week the first NFT from its new collection, on the Solana (SOL) network.

Melania reportedly did this in partnership with MoonPay, but that was not true at all, according to the crypto payment company. MoonPay immediately distanced himself and said it is not possible to buy NFTs from Melania Trump through MoonPay. Solana Labs, the developer of the Solana network, immediately distanced itself from the initiative.

“She’s going to do great,” Trump nevertheless tells Fox about Melania’s NFTs. About crypto however, the former president is not pleased. He reiterates in the interview that he is still not a fan of it:

Crypto as Bitcoin “Very Dangerous”

“Well, I never liked it, because I like the dollar. I think the currency should be the dollar so I was never a big fan. But it’s getting bigger and bigger, and nobody’s doing anything about it.”

According to Trump. Not only does he want to stick to the US dollar, he even calls crypto very dangerous:

“Look, I want a currency called the dollar, I don’t want all the others. It could one day lead to an explosion like we’ve never seen before. It will make the big tech explosion look like a child’s play. I think it’s a very dangerous thing.”

This is not the first time Trump has lashed out at crypto. All the way back in 2019 did he criticize bitcoin, but it was especially special for the community to hear a US president talk about crypto for the first time. Also, not all members of his Republican party will agree, because there are some bitcoin fans among them, including Senator Cynthia Lummis.
