JAKARTA, COMPASS.TV – Pertamina has prepared a long-term strategy regarding the elimination of Premium, the use of Pertalite, which will also be replaced by Pertamax. This is in line with the government’s mission to use fuel that is more environmentally friendly.
Quote from Kontan.co.id which received the minutes of the DPR working meeting with Pertamina, Thursday (12/23/2021), the elimination strategy was a simplification of product variants and was in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Forestry and the Environment (KLHK), regarding the emission quality standards for new types of motorized vehicles for four or more wheeled motorized vehicles.
According to the Ministry of Environment and Forestry Ministerial Regulation, the government sets euro 4 fuel or the equivalent of 91 octane fuel and above starting in 2019 in stages until 2021. Those with octane levels below 91 or entering the current euro 2 standard are Premium and Pertalite.

The first stage of removing Premium is reducing its use, accompanied by education and campaigns to encourage consumers to use BBM Ron 90 and above.
The second stage, reducing Premium and Pertalite gasoline at gas stations, is accompanied by education and campaigns to encourage the use of RON 90 fuel and above.
Third, simplification of products sold at gas stations to only 2 variants. Namely BBM RON 91/92 (Pertamax) and BBM RON 95 (Petamax Turbo).
Until 2021, the use of Premium and Pertalite continues to increase. For Premium, in 2018 nationally it reached 31.3 percent of national fuel consumption. In 2019 consumption rose to 33.3 percent of national use.

For Pertalite, in 2018 it reached 52.4 percent nationally, increasing in 2019 to 56.3 percent nationally.
