Elon Musk called Mark Zuckerberg’s metaverse “dumb,” adding that his Neuralink brain implants would be much better.
“Or have I become like those people who reject the Internet as a fad that will disappear in 1995, or Zuckerberg’s idea really won’t get anywhere?Musk asks.
“Of course you can put a TV on your nose. I’m not sure that will get you into the metaverse. After a while it becomes uncomfortable to stand with a VR helmet on your head, so we are quite far from “sinking” into the metaverse“, adds the billionaire.
According to Musk, a dense and true metauniverse can only be built with brain implants.
“In the long run, an advanced Neuralink can completely immerse you in virtual reality“, he said.
However, Meta is not stuck in one place, but is investing in making more comfortable and lighter headphones, as well as looking for an alternative to bulky virtual reality glasses. It is very likely that in 10 years the metaverse will rely on smart lenses and offer a much “immersive” experience.
Neuralink technology also takes time to evolve into consumer-oriented technology. In the near future, Musk brain chips will be available only to patients with neurodegenerative diseases.
