Two years after her former lover, sex offender and billionaire Jeffrey Epstein was found dead in his cell, the trial of Ghislaine Maxwell (59) is Monday in New York. That should reveal whether Maxwell recruited underage girls for Epstein and his entourage between 1994 and 2004. She has six charges in her name, including trafficking in women. Maxwell faces a life sentence, but maintains her innocence. The process takes six weeks.

Her attorneys arrived at the federal courthouse in Manhattan shortly before 9 a.m. local time (3 p.m. GMT). A suspected victim of Jeffrey Epstein, Sarah Ransome, was also present.

According to the US criminal justice system, the trial technically began in mid-November with the selection of 12 jurors, a process that was completed as of Monday morning.
