BayernLB supports “TU Munich – HORYZN – Mission Pulse 2021”

BayernLB finances progress – and promotes progress. As one of the sponsors of “HORYZN – Mission Pulse 2021”, a student initiative by NEXT Prototypes eV of the Technical University of Munich, as a focused specialist bank, it underlines its willingness to support innovative and future-oriented projects in the fields of science, research and technology.

According to current figures from the German Resuscitation Register, at least 60,000 people in Germany suffer cardiovascular arrest outside of a hospital every year. Only about ten percent of those affected survive. The sooner help arrives, the greater the chances of survival. It takes an average of nine minutes for a defibrillator to be deployed to rescue the patient. If the period is halved, the chance of survival triples. This is where HORYZN comes in. The initiative, founded in 2019, has 58 students from the Technical University of Munich. They have set themselves the goal of developing and constructing a drone that – faster than an ambulance – transports a defibrillator to the scene of an emergency, thereby significantly increasing the survival of those affected. Because every minute counts.

“Working on a project like this is visionary, it is innovative. We are proud to be able to support HORYZN as a sponsor, ”says Oliver Geldner, Sector Head Aviation & Space at BayernLB. “As a bank, we are not only a partner for companies, we are also involved in those areas where people work with passion and enthusiasm on future issues. BayernLB finances progress – and promotes progress. “

The students have been working on the drone for 330 days and nights, many more work-intensive weeks and months lie ahead of the highly motivated and committed team. A special milestone has already been achieved: On December 15, 2021, “Frankenstein”, the name of the prototype, was officially presented in Ottobrunn near Munich and took off on its first flight.
