Madagasse minister swims 12 hours to reach coast after helicopter crash

A Madagascar minister has swum for 12 hours to reach the coast after the helicopter he was in crashed. The man survived the crash – and the swim.

Of the four occupants of the helicopter, two survived in any case, the two others are still being sought.

Serge Gelle, the police minister for the island of Madagascar, and a police officer both reached the mainland separately after the crash. 57-year-old Gelle swimming, it is unknown from the agent how he managed to reach the mainland.
