The city was hit by strong gusts. There were roof blasting, falling trees and power outages.
Around three o’clock in the siesta on Tuesday, a storm of water and wind struck towns in the northern province causing damage to urban trees, detachment of roofs of houses and failures in the service of the electrical network.
With a thermal sensation that touched the 43 degrees, at the mentioned hour dark clouds began to cover the sky while the electrical discharges thundered. Immediately, it began to rain copiously in the Reconquista – Avellaneda metropolitan area, and then the downpour faded until it stopped around 5:30 p.m.
The phenomenon was not forecast in any of the meteorological services, neither the official nor the private ones and only drizzles were expected at night.
With special virulence, the tropical meteor struck the northern area of Avellaneda. In that city, roofs were blown up and specimens of urban flora collapsed along the Route 31 line. Beyond the intensity of the wind, only material damage was recorded. The private house of the local mayor, Gonzalo Braidot, located in that area, suffered the blasting of sheets from a gallery. Although the gusts were also felt in the downtown area, this was evidenced in the Christmas Tree that ended up leaning on one of its sides.
In the middle of the afternoon, the Cooperativa de Servicios Públicos, Sociales y Viviendas de Avellaneda Ltda. Issued a press release in which it informed the associated neighbors of the rural area of the district that the cut in the electricity supply was due to the “phenomenon climate occurred in the afternoon ”and pointed out that“ we are doing everything possible, going through the different lines in order to regularize the situation ”.
Due to this panorama, the entity warned that “therefore, we do not have a replacement schedule for the electric power service for the rural area”, and assured that “we are working with all available personnel to solve the severe inconveniences” produced by the gale.
