Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Former national team striker Malaysia Safee Sali admitted that he was ashamed that Malaysian players were overwhelmed by Indonesia’s attack in the AFF Cup 2020 (AFF Cup 2021).
Malaysia’s failure to advance to the semifinals of the AFF Cup is still being reviewed by both former Malayan Tiger players and football observers.
Malaysia failed to advance to the semifinals after losing 1-4 to Indonesia in the last match of Group B of the AFF Cup, Sunday (19/12).
The defeat made Malaysia ranked third in the final standings of Group B AFF Cup behind Indonesia and Vietnam.
Seeing Malaysia’s performance against Indonesia, Safee Sali admitted he was embarrassed.
“There is one situation where our players are chasing the ball from Indonesian players. How embarrassed I am to see our players being bullied by three Indonesian players,” said Safee Sali in the Bola Mamak program on the Youtube channel Astro Arena, Monday (20/12).
In the program with the theme Indonesia Wisely Reads the Patterns of Malaysian Players, the speakers also praised the Indonesian national team’s game which played fast from foot to foot.
This strategy is considered to be a hassle for the Malaysian players and makes the Malayan Tiger players tired.
Asnawi Mangkualam and his friends’ games are considered to be very neat and have good organization when attacking and defending. Indonesian players are also very familiar with the tactics that Shin Tae Yong wants.
The Red and White Team is also said to have an intelligent mind in making decisions.
