British media report that the 95-year-old would rather spend Christmas at Windsor Castle, as she did last year. The reason is increasing coronary heart disease and possible new restrictions.
The British news agency Press Association quotes a source in the royal house as saying it was a “personal decision, made after careful consideration”.
After a hospital stay in October, Queen Elizabeth has had to limit her public assignments, and last week this year’s Christmas lunch with members of the royal family was canceled due to the infection situation.
This year’s Christmas is the first for the British monarch after her husband Prince Philip died in April.
