Russia expels two German diplomats in response

“The German ambassador has been informed that two diplomatic staff at the German embassy in Russia have been declared” persona non grata “in a symmetrical response,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

German ambassador protests “strong protest” over expulsion of two Russian diplomats from Germany last week.

Last week, a Berlin court sentenced Vadim Krasikov, a Russian citizen, to life in prison for the shooting of Tornike Kavtashashvili, a Georgian citizen, in a park in Berlin in 2019.

The murder was a “retaliation” for Kavtashashvili for being in opposition to the Kremlin, the judge said.

Moscow “categorically denies unfounded and unrealistic accusations” of involvement, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Monday.

Germany expelled two Russian diplomats shortly after Moscow’s assassination in protest of Moscow’s refusal to support the investigation.
