Eurovision Song Contest cost less than budgeted, also less income

The organization of the Eurovision Song Contest has cost less money than expected. The modified program has left the organization 3.7 million euros in its budget. A total of 19 million euros was spent.

Due to the corona pandemic, parts were adjusted or deleted, so that less money was spent than budgeted. However, entrepreneurs in the city have earned less from the festival. This was because fewer foreign visitors came to the city and catering establishments had to adhere to restrictive measures, the municipality says.

Rotterdam entrepreneurs earned a total of 2.8 million euros from the festival. Festival visitors, employees of the organization and delegations from participating countries accounted for more than 17,000 hotel nights, reports Rijnmond.
