It was launched at an early stage of the duel with Gil Vicente, given Rúben Amorim’s need to rebalance the team in the face of Neto’s expulsion. A kind of joker from the coach, who at the right time put him on the field, as it was precisely Nuno Santos who unlocked the game with a strong shot that had both success and happiness (deviation in a gilista defender before entering).
If versatility is the left-handed’s trump card (they can play both at the extreme and at full-back), the truth is that Nuno Santos continues to be a very influential player in the team’s offensive process, getting closer, at this early stage of the season, to the numbers that got in the previous one. With the arrival of Sarabia at Sporting, Nuno Santos lost space but was still decisive. And he is currently going through one of the best periods of the season, with three goals in four games, repeating the feat achieved in 2020/2021 – scoring in two consecutive games in the League (last year against Portimonense and FC Porto; in this one with Boavista and Gil Vicente).
