LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – “Spider-Man: No Way Home” grossed around $ 253 million (225 million euros) in ticket sales in the United States and Canada over the weekend, making it the third biggest film launch in Hollywood history, its distributor Sony (T 🙂 Corp. announced on Sunday.
Across the globe, the latest installment in the spider-man saga totaled an additional 334.2 million in sales, for a total of $ 587.2 million, according to studio estimates.
The blockbuster has brought back crowds to the theaters of AMC Entertainment (NYSE :), Cinemark and Cineworld who suffered during the Covid-19 crisis. The spread of the Omicron variant, however, raises new concerns.
If Broadway canceled shows and the Nation Football League postponed matches, theaters were full. Fans flocked to theaters to check out the new big-budget super-production co-produced by Sony and Walt Disney Co, released only in theaters.
