Reading surprise for children | Swabian

All three- and four-year-old children from the Kirchdorf community receive a special pre-Christmas surprise. They can pick up a small cloth bag with a picture book and a multilingual parents’ brochure with lots of reading and action tips for everyday family life from the Kirchdorf school and community library free of charge. Lesestart 1-2-3 is a nationwide program for early language and reading promotion, is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and carried out by the Reading Foundation. Familiarizing children with reading and storytelling from an early age is a first step towards giving them early access to education.

The distribution of the reading start sets is a first for the Kirchdorf library. That is why the library staff decided to take into account the four-year-old children as well as the three-year-olds.

If you haven’t picked up your gift yet, you can do so during the normal opening times on Wednesday and Friday from 4 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. The last opening day before the Christmas holidays is Wednesday, December 22nd.
