New York. New York has another spectacular new observation deck. High up in the “One Vanderbilt” skyscraper right next to the Grand Central train station in Manhattan, the “Summit” viewing platform opened on Thursday at a height of around 330 meters.
On three floors, it offers a panoramic view of the metropolis, art installations, outdoor terraces and a glass elevator with a transparent floor. It drives visitors from the terrace to a height of over 364 meters – and thus to the highest vantage point in Midtown Manhattan.
Hundreds of visitors came to the opening. The ticket prices start at around 40 dollars (about 35 euros), for the visit a corona vaccination must be proven.
“One Vanderbilt” is the fourth tallest building in New York
The 427 meter high office tower “One Vanderbilt” was completed last year for a construction cost of more than three billion dollars. It is the fourth tallest building in the Big Apple after One World Trade Center (541.3 meters), the Central Park Tower (472.4 meters) and 111 West 57th Street (435.3 meters).
The metropolis of New York already has several spectacular viewing platforms: On the Empire State Building, “One World Observatory” at One World Trade Center, “Top of the Rock” at Rockefeller Center and “The Edge” in the Hudson Yards district to the west of Manhattan.
